Consciousness is a term that's rarely associated with traditional business. Conscious Competence, however, is associated with high and consistent achievement without leaving a trail of destruction behind at other companies. Happiness is another term that is rarely thought of as being central to business. But every one of you reading this knows what choice you will make if you have a choice between buying a product that makes you happy and buying a product that does not make you happy! You also likely want to do business with people who make you happy, even if they are from another "economic strata". Conscious businesses are concerned with making as many people happy in the long run as possible so that these same people will continue to work with them and buy from them in the long run. Consciousness in business is the supportive awareness of everyone who has a "stake" in your success and can influence your business's prosperity. The idea is that Competence that flows from consciousness maintains strong relationships that lead to everyone's, not just some people's, happiness. Conscious businesses are honest, transparent, fair, creative, healthy, good community citizens, and, extremely profitable. This type of profit is long run profit and not the "cut and run" type of profit that only benefits a few while leaving stockholders with empty purses. Conscious businesses do a funny thing: they grow the pie from which they take their slice. Unconscious businesses just "cut and run". It is about leadership. This type of profit requires a long term commitment from top leadership and everyone else who follows. Here is what many boards of directors most need insight on; choosing a CEO based on commitment and passion for sustainable business and one who is strong enough to lead by following the corporate "values" while supporting all "stakeholders". It is crucial to know that stakeholders must profit fully for stockholders to profit fully.
Consciousness is a type of awareness that leads to better decision-making. Time management is a physical, emotional, and mental experience. It's about the way our bodies move. Time Consciousness is how we think about time. No one I've ever talked to after a traditional time management seminar has been able to tell me what time is. I've asked a lot of people, including top HR executives. How can anyone manage something that they do not understand? They may not know what time is but they are time conscious, yet without full power. Without knowing what they are conscious of, time efficiency is full of stress. Time consciousness mixed with knowledge about time itself and how humans relate to it will transform the way you move. Goal setting is really about the direction we want to go in life. We fulfill our goals at higher and higher levels as we mature and gain power. But they're really the same goals we had when less mature. Our homes are now better. Our portfolios are more secure. Our friends are even more stable. And our vision of ourselves and what we contribute to the world continues to expand. As our contribution expands all the other goals are enhanced as well. What most of us don't understand is that were born with all of our goals and we just keep spiraling and fulfilling them at higher and higher levels.
